After much panicking and monitoring of ebay (reminiscent of cors bidding periods) the last 2 days before the F1, i managed to sell the saturday and sunday tickets but couldn't find any buyers for the friday ones.
These are the tickets. for one person, all 3 days. cool huh? nice souvenirs they make. haha
So i got Dina to go with me cos she's interested in the F1. She actually watches it on tv!
we arrived during the 1st practice session so it was really loud. you'd think that after charging people a few hundred dollars for a ticket the least they can do is provide ear plugs, which are absolutely necessary, i tell you, but noooo they charge us 2 bucks for them. oooh we get a poncho too how great! they claim that the money's for charity but i harbour some suspicion about that.
so after much squeezing and pushing in the heat we managed to get to padang! and let me tell you, the open space there was a sight for sore eyes.
The Saint Andrew's Cathedral in the background. doesn't it look like some fake backdrop? Dina and i thought it looked really 2-d and seemed to be cropped out from some fantasy novel or something. hahaha
Parliament house! with the conspicuous new supreme court hovering over it like some UFO. bleah.
without the ugly UFO thing. very nice view actually. =)
got to our seats. this is the porsche race i think.
the moon!!
=)
with our tickets!
a performance at the stage in padang. in between the action on the racetrack, they have performances to pass the time. at first i thought hey were really creepy, just swaying back and forth on these high flexible pole-things but after a while it seems really fun! i wanna play too!
one of them bent all the way down to give a flower to a little boy sitting on his dad's shoulders. awww
i think this is the BMW race
ok.
The SA cathedral again. Yes i was very taken by how 2-d it looked.
the clock tower at victoria theatre against the skyscrapers.
omg the track was so bloody bright! in Dina's words: "it looks like a really long and bright worm!"
Practice session 2. Got a pic of the ferrari!
verdict: not worth it if i had to pay $589 but it was fun!
was disappointed that we didn't see any celebrities though since they were apparently everywhere.
ok have to get back to doing my presentation on friday for my prof and the other students who are being supervised by him for their theses. they're all graduate students! talk about intimidating man. shitting bricks over here.
bleah. bye!
