Vancouver, Stanley Park

the kids at UBC decided to go to Stanley Park so i tagged along. cos i was too cheap to take the bus (CAD$2.50!), i decided to walk. took me 1 hr but it was alright. and on my way there, i happened to look to the right and saw this. i was like "wow" and took a little detour. rich people stay here man. then had to walk through this connecting park to get to Stanley Park to meet the rest. gorgeous, ain't it?Stanley Park proper. it's like. huge la. we only went to like one tiny little part.

ok, that's all for Vancouver. for more pictures, see my album on facebook.
in SD now and so far i've met 2 of my roommates. the other 2 guys aren't here yet. and yes, i'm bunking with 4 guys. like, 3 of us share a room and the other 2 share the other room and our room is huge! and not as scary as it sounds la, and it's good cos i get to hog all the space by the sink for my toiletries. haha and we have our own beds. actually, our apartment has like 8 beds can. they were like "this is a party place man". haha oh and i think it's incredible that they guys can seriously just live on microwave food alone. nothing else. i was like "no, i need my fresh vegetables and meat man" so they took me to this asian supermarket to get stuff and we cooked dinner. it was quite a flop cos the noodles took damn long to cook so the bottom was burnt and one of the guys added too much hot sauce to his so he couldn't finish it. haha nvm, next time then. oh and one of them is from Vietnam but he's been in the US practically his whole life and the other's from Mexico. dunno about the other 2. the mexican only arrived ytd so i dunno him very well. been hanging out with the Vietnamese guy and his Vietnamese friends.
and the sun is finally out after 3 days of cloudy skies and cold winds! now, this is the California i'm talking about. and i went shopping ytd at this outlet and bought stuff from Forever 21!!! i really need to ship stuff back alr cos there weren't any blankets or pillows so i had to buy them. and this water filter thing so i can drink the tap water. the pther guys are just gonna live on bottled water and disposable cutlery la. we had to buy our own plates and cups so our apartment has only 2 bowls, 2 plates and 3 forks, knives and spoons. so when we cooked the other day we had to cut raw chicken with the butter knife. it was horrible. luckily the mexican guy brought pots and pans with him so now we can cook.
anyway, i'll be going to LA later for a few days to meet some of the singaporeans. i'm taking greyhound there! we're going to six flags tmr!! and i'll be back on tues, one day before orientation.
and i had to get books for my classes and they're so expensive! so i ordered mine from Amazon.com. it's so much cheaper la, including shipping. spent like $200 on books alr and i haven't bought all yet. think i'll get a job on campus.
ok, that's all for my update.
Ciao!
